FJC Students and Staff Shine During Relocation Drill!

Today, our students and staff did an outstanding job participating in our annual relocation drill! We began with a traditional fire drill before relocating to Rocky Point High School and then safely returning to FJC.
This annual drill allows us to practice the procedures we would follow if an emergency required us to evacuate FJC and we were unable to return to the building for an extended period of time.

The entire process was quick, organized, and efficient, thanks to the cooperation of our students and the preparation and teamwork of our staff. It was a valuable opportunity to practice our safety procedures and ensure we are prepared should the need ever arise.

A big thank-you to our students, staff, and everyone who helped make today's drill such a success!

Strategic Plan Spotlight: Student-Centered Learning in Action!

Across FJC and JAE, our teachers are bringing student-centered learning to life through engaging, meaningful classroom experiences.
Ms. Marte, our Math Instructional Coach, has been collaborating with teachers in both buildings to support the implementation of our newly adopted enVision Math curriculum, with a focus on building deeper mathematical understanding through hands-on exploration, problem-solving, and meaningful student discourse.

This week, Ms. Marte worked alongside Ms. Capaldi and her students as they explored numbers 1–10. Students had opportunities to develop their understanding, share their thinking, and learn from one another. Even our youngest learners are being encouraged to explain their reasoning, consider different approaches, and actively participate in mathematical conversations.

This work highlights an important priority of our district's Strategic Plan: creating classrooms where students take an active role in their learning. Through her collaboration with teachers across FJC and JAE, Ms. Marte is helping bring this vision to life, one classroom at a time!

SOAR Students of the Week!

Each day at FJC, our students have opportunities to show what it means to SOAR through Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect! When a student is recognized for demonstrating one of these SOAR attributes, they receive an Eagle Ticket, which is entered into our weekly SOAR raffle.

Congratulations to last week’s SOAR raffle winners!  We also want to celebrate every student who earned an Eagle Ticket this week. Each ticket represents a moment when one of our students made a positive choice, showed kindness, helped someone else, or demonstrated what it means to SOAR at FJC.

  • Jack Relyea
  • Emily O'hare

We are proud of all our Eagles—keep collecting those tickets and keep SOARing!
