This morning, our students participated in our annual SOAR and Student Code of Conduct Assemblies!
Our Kindergarten students had the opportunity to learn all about what it means to SOAR at FJC—demonstrating Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect—and how they can be recognized when they are caught SOARing throughout the school. Our first and second graders also had a chance to review what SOAR looks and sounds like in our classrooms, hallways, cafeteria, playground, and throughout FJC.
Our first and second graders were also treated to a very special presentation from students from Rocky Point High School. As part of the district’s Strategic Planning Committee, these students have spent the past two years developing a child-friendly coloring book version of the Rocky Point Student Code of Conduct. On Friday, September 18, they had the opportunity to share their finished project with our students and help them understand some of the important expectations that allow everyone at FJC to learn, grow, and SOAR together.
We are incredibly grateful to our high school students for the time, thought, and creativity they put into creating something especially for our youngest learners. It was also wonderful for our students to see some of our older Rocky Point students serving as role models!
And, of course, no SOAR assembly would be complete without a few Eagles! Edward the Eagle and Rocky the Eagle made a special appearance, bringing plenty of excitement to our assemblies and helping us kick off another great year of SOARing at FJC!
