Enjoy the Spring Recess- School Closed 4/2-4/10

As we head into spring recess, we want to take a moment to wish all of our FJC families a warm, restful, and enjoyable break. Over the past few weeks, we’ve truly started to feel the shift in seasons, with warmer days and plenty of great moments across our school.

Our second graders had a wonderful time on their trip to the movies to see The Pout-Pout Fish, and our first graders have begun their visits to Pompeii Pizzeria—always a highlight! Classrooms have been filled with spring-themed activities as we celebrated the upcoming holidays, and we even had a quick (and very exciting) visit from the Easter Bunny. In addition, students from the high school Child Development program have started working in our classrooms twice a week, already making a positive impact on our students and staff.

When we return, it will already be midway through April, and we’ll be looking ahead to an exciting stretch of the school year. We have many fun events on the horizon, including a PTA-sponsored dinosaur-themed assembly, end-of-year celebrations, and field days in early June as we begin to look toward the finish line of another incredible year together.

Thank you, as always, for your continued support. Enjoy the break, and we look forward to welcoming everyone back refreshed and ready for a great spring!

Second Graders Head to the Movies

Our second graders recently enjoyed a special field trip to PJ Cinemas to see The Pout-Pout Fish. This fun outing brought a beloved story to life on the big screen, following Mr. Fish as he learns that he doesn’t have to be gloomy and that a simple act of kindness can brighten not only his day, but the day of those around him.

Beyond the movie itself, the trip was filled with smiles, laughter, and, of course, popcorn! It was a wonderful opportunity for students to spend time together, build memories with their classmates and teachers, and enjoy a meaningful story about friendship, positivity, and the power of turning a frown into a smile.

A Slice of Learning: First Grade Visits Pompeii Pizzeria

This week, our first graders kicked off their annual trip to Pompeii Pizzeria, a tradition that our students look forward to each year. Students take a short walk over to the pizzeria, where they have the opportunity to learn about Italy while getting hands-on by creating their own personal pizzas.

This experience is always a highlight, combining learning, creativity, and of course, some delicious fun! A huge thank you to the Prestigiacomo family for their generosity in hosting all of our first grade classes and providing such a memorable experience for our students.

Full Circle Learning: High School Students Return to FJC

We are excited to share that students from the High School Child Development course have begun visiting FJC! These students are paired up and come to our building twice a week to support in classrooms while gaining valuable hands-on experience.

For many of our high school visitors, this is a full-circle moment, as they often have the opportunity to work alongside their former teachers. Our FJC students absolutely love welcoming these new helpers into their classrooms, and the connections being built are truly special.

This partnership is a wonderful example of learning in action and community connection, creating meaningful experiences for both our high school students and our youngest learners.

March Music Madness Crowns a Champion!

Our music teacher, Ms. Macedonio, has been bringing energy and excitement to the classroom by introducing students to music from different decades. Students listened to a variety of songs spanning generations and then cast their votes in a fun, March Madness-style bracket competition.

With each round, the excitement built as students eagerly awaited the results, until only one song remained—“Bye, Bye, Bye” by NSYNC took the top spot!

Thank you to Ms. Macedonio for exposing our students to a wide range of music and creating such an engaging and memorable experience for everyone involved.
