As part of our PBIS program, classrooms can earn a check on their SOAR Board when the entire class is recognized for consistently demonstrating our SOAR traits of Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect. Once a SOAR Board is filled, classes are rewarded with the opportunity to choose a special way to celebrate their achievement.
Shortly before the winter break, Ms. Gallino’s class proudly completed their SOAR Board and selected a fun and engaging library experience with Ms. Sicurella as their celebration. During Open Library, students enjoyed listening to a story and participated in a discussion about what it means to be an author, with a focus on how imagination plays a key role in creating great stories.
Students then rolled a dice to generate the beginning of a story and worked at tables to illustrate an imaginative ending of their own. The celebration concluded with students sharing their drawings and story ideas with classmates, showcasing both creativity and confidence.
It was a wonderful experience, and the students had a fantastic time celebrating their SOAR success through creativity and collaboration!
