FJC Travels Back in Time for the 50th Day of School

On Wednesday, FJC students were transported back to the 1950s as they celebrated the 50th day of school in true retro style. To mark this milestone, students and staff dressed in 50s-inspired outfits—poodle skirts, leather jackets, rolled-up jeans, and more. Classrooms were filled with fun, 50-themed activities that brought the era to life.

From music and crafts to themed games and lessons, the day was full of energy and excitement. It was a swell time for everyone, and a memorable way to honor 50 days of learning, growth, and school spirit at FJC.

Suessical Jr.

FJC students had the wonderful opportunity to see the incredible production of Seussical Jr. performed by our middle school students. On Thursday, the entire school walked over to the high school, where we were welcomed with an unforgettable theatrical experience.

It was especially heartwarming to see many of our former FJC students shining brightly on stage. Our current students were an outstanding audience—fully engaged and captivated by the colorful sets, impressive singing, and lively dancing. Some favorite moments included spotting the Grinch, watching the dazzling lights dance across the ceiling, and hearing the remarkable voices of the talented actors and actresses.

Not only did our students leave with a memory that will stay with them for years to come, but we hope that today’s experience also sparked the “inner star” in some of our young Eagles. Opportunities like this remind us of the power of the arts and the strength of our Rocky Point community.

Districtwide Emergency Dismissal Drill – Tuesday, November 25th

As part of our annual safety procedures, the Rocky Point School District will conduct a District Emergency Dismissal Drill on Tuesday, November 25th. This important practice helps ensure that all students and staff are prepared to respond quickly and efficiently in the event of an actual emergency.

On this day, all students will be dismissed 15 minutes early.

For families, this means:
  • Bus Riders:
  • Please plan to be at your child’s bus stop 15 minutes earlier than usual, as buses will be departing FJC at 3:15 PM.
  • Parent Pick-Up:
  • If you pick up your child, please arrive 15 minutes early. We will begin our pick-up dismissal at 2:55 PM to ensure a smooth and timely process.

We appreciate your support and cooperation as we work together to keep our students safe. If you have any questions, please feel free to reach out to our main office.

Author Visit Brings Rainbow Magic to FJC

This week, FJC students were treated to an unforgettable experience as we welcomed author Lisa Muchnik for a special schoolwide assembly. Lisa captivated our students with a reading of her book Rainbow Panda, a heartwarming story that celebrates kindness, individuality, and embracing what makes each of us unique.

Following the reading, students participated in hands-on activities connected to the themes of the book. Classrooms came alive with creativity as students engaged, shared ideas, and made meaningful connections to Rainbow Panda’s message.

The highlight of the assembly came at the end, when all of our students joined together to sing the Rainbow Panda song. Our very own school psychologist — and Lisa’s husband — Marc Muchnik accompanied the students on piano. The room was filled with color as students waved bright rainbow scarves, creating a truly magical moment of unity and joy.

This beautiful opportunity was made possible by our incredible PTA, whose continued support brings enriching, inspiring experiences to our FJC community. We are so grateful for their partnership and commitment to our students.
