"The Place to be is Always FJC!"

Students learning Fire Safety

Fire Safety Comes to FJC!

As part of Fire Prevention Week, our first and second graders had a special visit from the Rocky Point and Sound Beach Fire Departments! Firefighters spent time teaching our students about fire safety, including what to do in case of an emergency and how to stay calm and safe.

Students were thrilled to explore the fire trucks and equipment up close — even getting the chance to walk through a real fire truck and ambulance! The excitement was matched only by the valuable lessons learned about the importance of fire prevention and the everyday heroes who help keep us safe.

A huge thank you to our local firefighters for their time, dedication, and for making this year’s Fire Prevention Week visit both educational and unforgettable. We are so grateful for their continued partnership and commitment to our community!

Ms. Sicurella

Congratulations, Ms. Sicurella!

We are so proud of our amazing librarian, Ms. Sicurella! Not only did she partner with our PTA to host a record-breaking Book Fair last week, but she has also been invited to speak at the Long Island School Librarians’ Regional Institute.

Her presentation, titled “Teamwork Makes the Dream Work,” will highlight the incredible collaborations she’s fostered here in Rocky Point—including our Solar Eclipse event, Dinosaur Week, and the Media Literacy Grant.

During her presentation, Ms. Sicurella will share creative ideas, tips, and strategies for building a library program that partners with content areas and grade levels to design unique, engaging learning experiences for students.

Please join us in congratulating Ms. Sicurella on this well-deserved recognition! Her passion, innovation, and teamwork continue to make FJC a place where students truly SOAR!

SOAR Students of the week

We are so proud of our SOAR winners this week! Students earn SOAR tickets when they are recognized for showing Safety, Ownership, Acceptance, and Respect throughout the day. All tickets are collected and entered into our weekly raffle. The lucky winners not only get recognized as SOAR stars, but also have Eddie the Eagle join their class for the week.

This weeks winners are:
  • Trenton Hope
  • Jason Feldmann
  • Toretto Rivera
Congratulations to this week’s winners—you are shining examples of what it means to SOAR at FJC!

Staff Spotlight: Ms. Pronsky – Preferred Substitute Teacher

Meet Ms. Pronsky, our amazing Preferred Substitute Teacher at FJC! Ms. Pronsky has been part of our school family for 2 years, and in that time she has built strong relationships with students and colleagues alike.

Her favorite part of working at FJC is “being able to create strong relationships with students and co-workers.” One of her most meaningful highlights has been the chance to fulfill a leave replacement opportunity, which allowed her to connect with students on an even deeper level.

In the classroom, Ms. Pronsky loves sharing Dr. Seuss books with her students, sparking laughter and creativity. Something you might not know about her: she owns two horses and has been riding for 20 years! Outside of school, Ms. Pronsky enjoys horseback riding or going fishing.

Her favorite advice is simple yet powerful: “Be the best version of yourself.” And in her own words, “I am beyond thankful for the opportunity I was given to work with your children.”

We’re so grateful to have Ms. Pronsky on our team. She brings warmth, dedication, and joy to FJC each day!

Harvest Day Parade Invite

Join us for the Harvest Day Parade

We are excited to announce that FJC will be hosting our annual Harvest Day Parade on Friday, October 31st. This event will take place at the high school track and will begin at 9:45 am and end by 11:00 am. Students are invited to dress up as their favorite fairy tale, nursery rhyme, or storybook character (no costume masks or weapon, no scary costumes please). Classes will then march around the track beginning with second grade classes, followed by first grade classes, and concluding with kindergarten classes. At the conclusion of the parade, the High School Marching Band will perform a special routine for all students and families.

For the safety of our students, we ask that all parents and visitors enter through the high school bleachers. Only students, teachers, and staff will be permitted on the track and field. We ask that all visitors remain seated in the bleachers throughout the parade for the safety and enjoyment of all students and their families. (Please do not leave your seats in the stands to take pictures as this blocks the view of other guests). In addition, parking will be limited and we encourage parents and guardians to carpool if possible. Please do not park in the apartment complex across the street from the track and schools.

At the end of the event, all staff and students will return to the building where we will continue with fun activities and instruction for the remainder of the school day. We encourage all students to spend the remainder of the day with us, but if you intend on signing out your child at FJC after the event, please complete the form sent home earlier this week and return to your child’s teacher by Friday, October 24th.

In the event of inclement weather, we will reach out through Parent Square to families on the morning of our parade should we need to reschedule.

Feed the Monster Candy Competition Update

Our Candy Monster is filling up fast — and FJC is on fire!

So far, FJC leads the challenge with an incredible 91 pounds of candy, while our friends at JAE have collected 42 pounds. Both schools are doing an amazing job feeding their monsters, and we can’t wait to see who will be crowned the Candy Champion at the end of the month!

All candy collected will be donated for the Trunk or Treat Event hosted by the NSYC and Rocky Point PTA on October 26th.

A huge thank you to everyone who has already donated! If you haven’t yet, there’s still time — donations will be accepted through October 24th. Let’s keep the candy coming and show everyone how FJC SOARS with sweetness!
