From FJC to Graduation: Seniors Take a Walk Down Memory Lane

On Thursday, June 12th, the halls of FJC were filled with cheers, applause, and a few happy tears as graduating seniors from Rocky Point High School returned to where it all began. The annual Senior Walk-through has quickly become one of our favorite traditions, and this year’s event was nothing short of magical.

Students, teachers, and staff lined the hallways, proudly holding signs and cheering as the seniors—many of whom once walked those very same halls as young children—made their way through the building. The celebration was filled with joy, laughter, and heartwarming reunions as former students reconnected with the teachers and staff who helped shape their early years.

This meaningful tradition is a powerful reminder of the lasting impact our educators have on their students, long after they’ve left elementary school. It also speaks volumes about the strength and closeness of the Rocky Point community—a place where once you're a part of the family, you're always welcome home.

Congratulations to the Class of 2025!

2nd graders at Finks Farm

Second Grade Visits Fink’s Farm!

On Wednesday, June 11th, all of our second-grade classes at FJC enjoyed a fantastic field trip to Fink’s Farm—and the beautiful weather made it even better!

Students had the chance to experience all the fun and learning the farm has to offer. From bouncing on the giant bounce pad and feeding the friendly farm animals to planting their very own basil to take home, the day was packed with hands-on adventures. Laughter, excitement, and lots of sunshine filled the air as our students explored the outdoors and connected with nature.

This memorable trip was the perfect blend of fun and education, and we’re so grateful to Fink’s Farm for welcoming us. It was a great day for our second graders to learn, play, and make lasting memories together!

FJC Library by the Numbers: A Year of Reading, Creating, and Exploring!

As the 2024-2025 school year comes to a close, we’re thrilled to celebrate the incredible impact our library has had on students and staff alike. Thanks to the energy and dedication of our amazing librarian, Ms. Sicurella, the library has continued to be a hub of excitement, creativity, and—of course—reading!

Throughout the year, Ms. Sicurella has inspired a love of learning through dynamic read-alouds, engaging hands-on STEM activities, imaginative stop-motion projects, and so much more. Whether students were building, creating, or just getting lost in a good book, the library offered something for everyone.

And the numbers speak for themselves! This year alone, over 13,000 books were circulated, with students eagerly checking out new titles each week. To keep things fresh and engaging, approximately 450 new books were added to the collection—ensuring our readers always had something new to discover.

We are so proud of our students’ enthusiasm and so grateful to Ms. Sicurella for making the FJC Library such a vibrant and welcoming place to grow.

Community Kindness in Action: Partnering with AGAPE Meals for Kids & EJ’s PJs

At FJC, we believe in the power of community—and we’re incredibly grateful for the support of two wonderful organizations that have made a meaningful difference in the lives of our students this year.

AGAPE Meals for Kids works to combat childhood hunger and food insecurity right here on Long Island. Each week, they’ve generously provided kid-friendly food packs to some of our students who could use a little extra support. These thoughtful deliveries have made a real impact and ensured that our students are nourished and ready to learn.

In addition, EJ’s PJs—an organization with a mission to provide pajamas to those in need—donated brand new pajamas to several of our students, bringing warmth, comfort, and smiles.

We are incredibly thankful for community partnerships like these that reflect the spirit of kindness and care. Together, we are helping our students feel supported, safe, and seen.

Middle School Role Models: Girl Scouts Take on Dental Health for a Cause

We’re proud to highlight a special partnership between FJC and three inspiring 8th grade students from Rocky Point Middle School—Cora Bernier, Lyla Ricci, and Emily Rothberg from Girl Scout Troop 2833. These remarkable young leaders are working toward their Silver Award, one of the highest honors in Girl Scouting, and their project is already making a positive impact in our school.

Their mission is twofold: to help young children feel more comfortable about visiting the dentist and to support community members in need of dental supplies. As part of this effort, Cora, Lyla, and Emily are visiting all our kindergarten classrooms, sharing a fun and informative slideshow to ease dental fears and promote healthy habits. The students have loved the visits and are learning so much!

In addition, the girls have partnered with the Trinity Lutheran Church Food Pantry to collect donations of new toothbrushes and toothpaste for those in need. A donation box is now located at FJC for any staff or families who would like to support this important cause.

We are so proud of these young ladies and grateful for their commitment to helping others. Their leadership and compassion are a shining example of the core values of the Rocky Point School community!
