A Night to Remember: FJC Art Show Celebrates Student Creativity

On Wednesday, May 21st, the halls of FJC were filled with color, creativity, and community as families gathered for the much-anticipated annual Art Show. Under the thoughtful guidance of our talented art teacher, Ms. Battelli, students have spent the year exploring their creativity, experimenting with new techniques, and learning about a wide range of artistic styles and artists.

The results of their hard work were on full display—and what a sight it was! Each student proudly presented an individual piece of artwork, showcasing their unique talents and artistic growth. In addition, several collaborative projects highlighted the power of teamwork and shared inspiration.

The second grade hallway was transformed into a stunning art museum, complete with soft background music that created a calming, gallery-like atmosphere. Families strolled through the space, admiring the incredible range of work and pausing to appreciate the creativity of our young artists. The turnout was amazing—the line of excited visitors stretched down the halls!

This beautiful evening reminded us of the importance of the arts in education and the joy of celebrating our students’ imaginations and hard work.

Thank you, Ms. Battelli, for your dedication, passion, and commitment to making art come alive for our students. The Art Show was a true masterpiece!

FJC Second Graders Visit JAE for 3rd Grade Orientation

On Friday, May 16th, FJC second graders took an exciting step toward their future with a special visit to JAE for their 3rd grade orientation. The day was thoughtfully planned by Principal Ms. Greening and Assistant Principal Mr. Paquette to help ease the transition and build excitement for the next chapter in their school journey.

Students were warmly welcomed and given a tour of the school by JAE’s very own fifth grade ambassadors. They explored key areas of the building, including the cafeteria, art room, STEAM room, main office, nurse’s office, and even the outdoor learning area.

It was a fun and informative visit that helped students feel more comfortable and confident about their upcoming move to JAE. We’re so proud of our soon-to-be third graders and can’t wait to see all they accomplish next year!

FJC Science Fair Winners Honored at Board of Education Meeting

On Monday, May 20th, FJC’s Science Fair winners were recognized at the Board of Education Meeting in front of a proud and packed audience. Principal Mr. Westerlund, Assistant Principal Ms. Pletka, and K-2 Science Chair Ms. Stueber had the honor of publicly celebrating these outstanding young scientists.

The students were recognized for their creativity, curiosity, and impressive scientific thinking. Their hard work and dedication to exploring the world around them truly shined through in their projects.

We are especially excited to cheer on our first-place winners as they prepare to represent FJC at the Brookhaven Town Science Fair next month. We know they’ll continue to make us proud!

Great job to all our participants!

Flat Stanley Updates!

Flat Stanley has been busy exploring the world, and we’ve loved hearing about his adventures!
He’s been bouncing on a trampoline in Pennsylvania, dressing up like a cowboy, and even spotting a bird’s nest with bright blue eggs.

He also took a big international trip to Hungary, where he visited the Parliament building along the Danube River and explored the beautiful St. Stephen’s Basilica.

Another Stanley returned from North Dakota dressed like a pilot! He brought back aviation goodies like trading cards, a flight request slip, and a TOLD card—used by pilots to calculate takeoff and landing distances.

He’s also been to Charlotte, North Carolina, for some family fun, and even had a rainy city adventure in Brooklyn, touring landmarks and bringing back GOAT USA stickers for the class!

We can’t wait to see where he heads next!
