News12 coverage of the Pompeii Pizzeria Trip

FJC First Graders Featured on News12 for Pompei Pizzeria Field Trip!

Our first grade students had a deliciously memorable experience this week—and it even made the news! News12 Long Island highlighted the exciting field trip our students took to Pompei Pizzeria, and it was truly a day to remember.

Ms. Miller’s class shined as they rolled up their sleeves to create their very own pizzas and learned all about Italian culture and cuisine. From stretching dough to piling on the cheese, our young chefs had a blast—and their smiles said it all!

Adding to the excitement was a very special guest: Thomas Prestigiacomo, a former FJC student, who was the star of the show as he helped his dad during the visit. Seeing one of our own front and center was a proud moment for everyone at FJC.

We are incredibly grateful to the Prestigiacomo family for their ongoing generosity and support. Their commitment to the community continues to create meaningful experiences for our students, and we were thrilled to see this wonderful connection celebrated on such a public stage.

Be sure to check out the segment on News12 if you haven’t already—and stay tuned for more exciting adventures at FJC!

Second Graders Explore Science at Brookhaven National Lab

Our second grade students recently had the exciting opportunity to visit Brookhaven National Laboratory, and what an incredible day it was!

Located right here on Long Island, Brookhaven National Lab is a world-renowned research facility where scientists explore everything from energy and the environment to physics and biology. For our curious young learners, it was the perfect place to spark scientific wonder!

During the field trip, students participated in a variety of hands-on activities that brought science to life. The experience was both educational and fun.

This trip was a fantastic way to connect classroom learning with real-world science, and our students came back inspired and full of great questions. We’re so proud of their enthusiasm and grateful for the opportunity to explore such an important scientific resource in our own backyard!
