Exciting Events Ahead for P.A.R.P. Week: February 3-7!
Get ready for an exciting and educational week during our upcoming P.A.R.P. (Pick A Reading Partner) Week, happening from February 3-7! The week kicks off with a virtual assembly featuring the Bronx Zoo on Tuesday, February 4, where students will have the chance to learn about amazing animals from the comfort of their classroom. On Wednesday, February 5, students will be treated to an in-school assembly with award-winning author Elizabeth Shreeve, followed by a live animal show that is sure to spark curiosity and excitement.

The fun continues on Thursday, February 6, with a Family Literacy Night from 6-8pm, where families can come together to celebrate reading in creative ways. Throughout the week, we will also enjoy the second Masked Reader Competition, organized by our wonderful librarian, Ms. Sicurella. Students will also be able to complete a digital reading log by logging onto Beanstack for a chance to win prizes!

This week of fun and learning is made possible by the generous support of the Rocky Point PTA and the hard work of Ms. Sicurella and our tireless PTA volunteers. Be sure to join in the excitement and make reading a priority during this special week!

Join Us for an Evening of Fun and Learning at Family Literacy Night!
Join us for a fun and interactive evening at Family Literacy Night on Thursday, February 6th, from 6-8pm! This special event is the perfect opportunity for families to come together and celebrate the joy of reading. Throughout the night, students can visit exciting literacy stations, shop for new books at the book fair, and enjoy a lively story time. There will also be a chance to meet beloved characters in a fun character meet and greet, making the night even more memorable.

One of the highlights of the evening will be an animal adaptations show, featuring live animals and Ranger Eric from CEED. It’s an amazing chance for students and families to learn about the unique ways animals survive in the wild. We encourage all families to attend this wonderful event sponsored by the Rocky Point PTA, which promises to be both educational and fun for all ages. We can’t wait to see you there!

Valentine's for Veterans
Frank J. Caristi Elementary School is excited to partner with Legislator Chad Lennon in the Valentine’s for Veterans program! This wonderful initiative gives our students the chance to show appreciation and bring some joy to our local heroes—veterans and active-duty military personnel—both here on Long Island and overseas. Students will be creating heartfelt Valentine's cards that will be delivered to those who have served or are currently serving in the military.

Families are also invited to participate! If you’d like to join in, you can drop off your own Valentine's cards for veterans at the FJC main office on or before February 7, 2025. Let’s work together to spread love and gratitude to the brave men and women who protect our freedom. It’s a meaningful way to show our support and make this Valentine’s season extra special for those who deserve it most!

Join Us for the 2025 Swoopin’ and Hoopin’ Basketball Game: Fun for a Great Cause!
Get ready for a night of fun, competition, and community spirit at the 2025 Swoopin’ and Hoopin’ basketball game, sponsored by the Be a Nicer Neighbor Club! On Thursday, February 13th, join us at the High School gymnasium at 6pm for an exciting basketball game featuring teachers and administrators from all four buildings across the district—including FJC’s very own Mr. Westerlund, Ms. Miller, and Ms. Sumwalt—as they compete on the court for a great cause. It’s a fantastic opportunity to cheer on familiar faces while supporting an important community initiative.

Tickets are only $5 per person and can be purchased ahead of time before the start of the high school day from 2/10-2/13 at the high school, or at the door the night of the event. Funds raised from this event will benefit the Be a Nicer Neighbor Club, which works to support families in need within our community. In the past, the club has used these funds to provide gift cards to struggling families, help cover prom costs for seniors, donate money for field trips, and host the annual Live Like Susie Kindness Awards ceremony. The night promises to be a fun and memorable way to support a wonderful cause while celebrating the spirit of kindness and generosity in our Rocky Point community. We hope to see you there!
